Here at MT3, we understand that sometimes it can be difficult to focus on your fitness goals, especially if you feel like you’re not really making any progress at that point or if a fitness program is something you’re new to. We work our hardest to help people achieve their goals, both in and out of the gym. So if you’re starting a new fitness program, or feeling lost amongst the work you’re putting in – we’ve put together a few tips on how to really make progress on your fitness goals…
Get In The Gym Regularly…
Sounds simple, right? That’s because it is. At the offset getting in the gym as much as you can often seems the easiest thing to do when starting your fitness program, but as life happens and other commitments start to appear out of no where it can start to feel like a burden going to the gym.
As The Rock himself says, consistency is key, and it works.
Make sure you get down to the gym on a regular basis, timetable it in if you need. Making a point of getting out to the gym on a regular basis will build that routine, and it’ll become less of a chore and more part of your everyday things to do.
Have A Plan…
If you’re getting to the gym and not knowing what exactly you want or need to be doing, you might just end up not training effectively or doing something simply for the sake of it. Down the line if you’ve repeatedly done this, you could find yourself a little lost on where you’re at program wise and how best to move forward.
Having a plan will allow you to be prepared and in the know of what you’re doing, when you’re doing it and give you somewhat of an understanding of why. It will also play in to the idea of our previous point of getting yourself into a routine of progressing along a routine.

Small Diet Changes…
This is sometimes something that can get out of hand. We think of getting fit and healthy and of course we all think about our diet and eating habits, should we go vegan, veggie, keto, gluten-free, no-carbs, or juice-only? Long story short, you don’t need a great big overhaul of your diet. Changing out your whole diet when starting a new program can often be a case of taking on too much. If you feel you’ve taken on too much as well as not being able to have what you’d usually eat, it can take it’s toll and deter against the routine.
Instead of making drastic changes, try making a few a small changes to your diet that you can stick to. Things like drinking more water, eating more vegetables or eating less takeaways are good changes to make that are manageable and make a positive impact on your health and complement your fitness program.
Smaller Goals Are Stepping Stones…
Let’s be clear, long term goals are great. The idea of following a fitness program is built around long term health and fitness, and it’s good to have an end goal that you work towards. However, remember that they are exactly that – long term. Setting smaller short term goals that you’re comfortable with at the time can act as stepping stones to help get you to those long term goals.
It’s often difficult to see the progress made towards long term goals because they seem a way off. By having those short term goals, you can see the progression as it happens by being able to tick off the goals you achieve along the way, which in turn will build motivation and that sense of achievement towards your plan.
